Is Mac out of the running?

While McCain fires his campaign advisers in an attempt to shift blame (yeah, all’s well with his Iraq and immigration policies but Terry Nelson was not doing his job!), Giuliani’s picture is being carried all over youtube by a scantily-clad woman. Take a guess as to who wins this contest.

It’s little wonder that McCain is stumbling this early (arguably) in the campaign season. That he is sounding like the drunken sailor he sites so often (his oft-repeated joke about ‘maritime’ Congress spending is just about as stale as his Iraq strategy) only happens to be his most trivial folly. The straight talk express that veered off the road while pandering to the much-needed evangelical base in what can only be categorized as a desperate plea to falwell-esque voters, clings desperately to the highway (albeit the extreme right lane) while explaining the war on terrorism.

Giuliani, for all his faults, is not only leading in all national polls and has come out swinging against the “swiftboat style” attack from the firefighters’ union (at least his campaign was quick to put the infamous brand name on it) but also has more money than any of his Republican counterparts.

If the over rated Freddie doesn’t jump in soon, it looks like it could be Rudy all the way...

Wat drives you the news or writing it?

What's wrong with american politics, or any politics for that matter?
It's all about people and perspectives and die-hard, dyed-in-the-wool, black-&-white, i'd-kill-before-i-change-my-mind opinions.....it's fascinating!

I am not an anarchist in anyway, but certainly politics is far from fascinating. People are fascinating - the candidates and the voters.
Perspective - opinions - zealots. These are commonplace notions, you dont need politics for that. Religion will probably whet your appetite better that way. Its about power, money, fame, a name in the history book. A prejudiced mind can never make for a good administrator or even a team player at any level.

are you actually trying to tell me "what" i should be interested in? ;)
where other than politics do you see such a complete playing field of opposing personalities and views and opinions?
Do the popes have internationally broadcast debates? I dont really care if politicians achieve their ends -- I just love to watch and judge them! And at least politics is based on real issues; religion is so pointless and based on non-existent themes, I could never take an interest in it.

I do believe politics can certainly be fascinating. Not that I am in love with 21st century politics, but I have always been interested in history, and for the most part, it is nothing but politics. After all, the very basis of politics is human interaction and social relations involving some form of authority or power (which, by the way, also leads to money, fame and a name in the history book). Now whether it is fascinating in terms of primetime entertainment on tv and media gossip, or in terms of the genuinely important issues out there that really matter to people, is perhaps a question of personal taste and interest.

Also, there is no point in putting a finger on US politics alone. Each and every country's politics has its share of BS. For instance, if you take a look at Indian politics (especially a lot of the local politics), it has the same amount of BS, if not more. Most of the times, the difference is in the media coverage and how the particular news/issue is being reported and brought to light to the people. So I guess it is not as if following a particular country's politics over the US's, makes one a saner person.
